Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)
What is TMS?
Transcranial magnetic stimulation or TMS is a non-invasive procedure that uses a magnetic field to stimulate nerve cells in particular areas of the brain to improve symptoms of depression, OCD and other mental health and neurological conditions. TMS is typically used when other depression and OCD treatments haven’t been effective. Clinical data demonstrates that 3 out of 4 clients with depression respond to deep TMS and 1 in 2 clients achieve full remission. TMS has a lower side effect profile than many of the medications used to treat depression and OCD. It has no cognitive side effects and clients remain alert throughout the duration of the 20-minute treatment.
Our Treatment Team
Our TMS technicians are trained and experienced in administering your treatment and managing your care. Your initial assessment and the determination of your treatment needs will be conducted by Dr Lisa Myers, an experienced psychiatrist, accredited to perform TMS.
