Dr Vanessa Crawford is a General Adult and Perinatal Psychiatrist and has a keen interest in all aspects of women’s mental health.
She obtained Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists with an Advanced Certificate in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry. She has worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital at the Naamuru Parent and Baby Unit, the first public mental health unit in NSW with capacity to admit postpartum women for treatment of mental illness together with their infants, as well as the outpatient Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Service (PIMHS). She has worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist in general adult psychiatry at the Concord Centre for Mental Health.
She obtained her medical degree from from the University of Sydney in 2008 and has additional qualifications with a Bachelor of Medical Science and a Masters of International Public Health.
Dr Crawford provides holistic, person-centered care that recognizes the individual needs of each patient. She believes it is imperative to collaborate with patients as well as other clinicians involved in their care, including GPs, psychologists, Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, and other allied health professionals to support a patient’s recovery. She has a particular interest in working with women throughout the perinatal period, which may include the preconception, antenatal or postnatal periods, and enjoys working with parent and infant dyads to support their developing relationship.
